About Us

InterMission / About Us

Mission

We are a diverse group united by our commitment to one another, not to convert or convince, but to celebrate our individuality. We encourage and empower each other to grow in kindness and contentment, in order to reach out in love to our community.

Vision

We strive to reinvent what church looks and feels like in order to welcome people from all spiritual paths.  We promote churchy values in an unchurchy way. We aspire to be an “extended family,” providing love, support, and a sense of purpose and belonging.

Values

  • We extend a special welcome to those who are single, married, divorced, LGBTQ+, straight, filthy rich, dirt poor, or don’t speak “Minnesotan.” We extend a special welcome to those who are crying newborns, brokenhearted, or in need of a safe place.
  • We don’t care if you are uber Presbyterian or haven’t been to church since your cousin’s wedding. We welcome women behind the pulpit, in the boardroom and “nasty” women who have resisted or persisted.
  • You’re welcome here if you’re just browsing, just woke or just got out of jail. We welcome those who are in recovery or still addicted. We don’t care if you believe in God or if you’ve never been to church.
  • We extend a special welcome to those who are over 60, but not grown up yet, and to teenagers who are growing up too fast. We welcome ankle biters and 90-somethings. We welcome those who are liberated by wheelchairs or walkers.
  • We welcome female soldiers, army wives, vegans, hipsters, latte-sippers, Mountain Dew drinkers, and Prozac takers. A special welcome to those who are awesomely autistic, rocking an extra chromosome or are Special Needs Warriors. We welcome you if you have some memory challenges.
  • We welcome you if you’re having problems (who isn’t?) or you’re down in the dumps or if you don’t like organized religion. We’ve been there, too. We offer a special welcome to those who work too hard, don’t work, or can’t work. It doesn’t mean you’re not “working it!’
  • We welcome families that are undocumented, unmarried, blended, or sliced and diced. We welcome families of one, parents of fur babies, and those who grew in their mom’s heart or their tummy.
  • We offer a special welcome to those who had religion shoved down their throat as a kid or got lost in traffic and wound up here by mistake…

We are glad YOU are here!
